Chinook with a red tail
Discussion
I just saw a red-tailed chinook fly over Basingstoke and wondered who it belonged to (usually they're grey or green with the odd black one)
A little investigation told me that it's the 100th year of 18(b) squadron (RAF Odiham)

Wasn't sure how well known this is, so just thought I'd post up

Those bloody things are beyond sorcery. They were Not Meant To Be. Where's my bunker...?
Agreed, one came past here last week, they sound and look too slow to be in the air, not to mention being suspended by magic pixies. This was a more staid part of it, I missed more shots because of trying to photograph via the screen on my camera

Have you seen the airshow routine?
Yes.From the inside.
Except of course, you had to suffer for us

Are all wokka aircrew "different"?
They seem to do some very scary and brave things and have very a warped sense of humour .

First one I met was an American Loadie in 77
Recovered us from a cornfield in Bavaria at End-ex Reforger, had us throw all our kit and gubbins (trade name, don't ask or I'd have to.. fudge it) in the middle then told us "sit anywhere, who wants a smoke?" as we lifted off in formation with his fellow Chinook
This was back in 77, all dead casual like, he and I stood at the starboard front door watching the pilots get us lost (true!) as we were smoking his Marlboros
I love the mighty Chinook
