Just because it worked doesn't mean it's desirable.

There are quite a few turbo DC-3/C-47s around. The CL-415 is a turboprop version of the CL-215 and there are turboprop conversions of Grumman Trackers also in use.

If these aircraft have a modern, practical life, then a turboprop conversion makes sense. If they are to be preserved as originals, then obviously keeping an original type engine is best.

It's a pity Buchons always seem to be displayed as fake 109s rather than as genuine Buchons.

I'm sure it's because its career with the Spanish Air Force as the genuine Buchons was less than inspiring - and they'll get far more air show bookings acting as "109"s.

It would be nice to see at least one in genuine Spanish colours though.




Having said that, I do have an unbuilt model kit of a Buchon and I will be completing it as one of the "Battle of Britain" film 109s.
