FoC Spitfire display N of hartley wintney 2nd Aug

Last night at about 19:00 a Spitfire did a few circuits above Hartley Wintney, including doing very specific 'wing rocks' when directly above the village on the first circuit.

It then did a full on 5-10 minutes air display routine over the Hart river/hazeley heath just north of the village.

Anyone know any details? My guess is that the pilot knew people in the village and was giving a free display making use of the fact that Blackbushe airfield is currently shut (I assume).

Pity I missed that. I was over at the village of Dipley - which is only a mile or so from Hartley Whitney - for an open garden event at Dipley Mill yesterday afternoon. Maybe the owner of Dipley Mill knows a Spitfire pilot

Now it makes sense why I could hear a Merlin in the distance from my garden in Fleet, but not a glimpse of it! Shame I didn't know about it otherwise would have popped over
