This is a very tragic event indeed - the pictures and videos are truly awful. I'm expecting a certain Mr Lurker to appear on this thread soon with his views.

Pretty shocking stuff.

From the PlanesTV video (which now seems to be pulled) the aircraft looked really slow into the loop. It was then that a mate spotted that potentially the flaps were lowered pulling up into the loop.

I'm no pilot but I'm not sure that is right is it?

Pretty local to me, and nuts to think that an aircraft can come down in the middle of that traffic light section.

Daily Mail site reporting too the pilot was pulled from the wreckage alive. They also carry footage from what looks like the other side of the road.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between this accident and one at Sandown earlier where that was the case.

Just saw that twitter picture.

As others have said, it'll be a miracle if there's only two fatalities.

This was being said at the scene, I think people were listening over police radios etc.

This was on the BBC:

I don't know whether it's of the plane at the show, but if it does it would seem to show the flaps deployed.

Nope. Speed required to loop a Hunter exceeds the max allowable speed for flap deployment by all accounts, but as to why they were deployed, that'll be for AAIB.

Seems to have taken out a classic (Jag / Daimler?)

I think we all know what the yellow tarp means frown
It's a Daimler limo, and at half past one on a Saturday afternoon (hate to say it) most likely a wedding car ?

Gutted absolutely gutted for those poor people frown
I imagine you didn't quite mean to put it that way did you?

I hope the injured and bereaved fully appreciate the defensive arguments from those in favour of stunt flying geriatric military fast jets that are due to follow...

RIP to those out for a drive on a sunny Saturday afternoon...

btw this is the "polite" version

It happened 1/4 mile in front of me, it was pretty scary.
There was hardly any noise, won't forget that in a hurry!
