Anyone know why the Reds are only doing a single fly-past at Dartmouth tomorrow as opposed to their usual full display?

They were confirmed yesterday as doing a full display however today it has been announced as a fly-past only.

Yes, it's only going to be a couple of fly pasts.

Any idea as to why the change from the full display which was confirmed yesterday?

I can understand the concerns in the aftermath of Shoreham however the Reds have been given the ok to display as normal - as they did in Torbay last night.

Just read that the CAA have clamped down on the Reds & just about everyone else making it, currently, impossible to display anywhere other than over the sea or over an airfield.

Red Arrows at Dartmouth Royal Regatta 2015

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is undertaking a comprehensive review of civilian air displays in the UK.

As part of this, in the last 48 hours, the CAA has amended the display permissions for the Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This affects all participants including the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows - scheduled to perform at the event tomorrow (Friday, August 28) at 1815.

It has been assessed that the required changes to display heights and positioning would have reduced the visual quality of the display for the public to an unacceptable level and therefore, with regret, the Red Arrows’ will not be conducting a full display at Dartmouth this year.

The Red Arrows recognise many people will have made plans and are looking forward to seeing the team perform. Not wanting to disappoint the public, the team will, instead, conduct two flypasts – not involving aerobatics – at the Dartmouth Royal Regatta, weather-permitting.

The decision does not affect the planned display at Clacton Airshow, scheduled for 1245 tomorrow (August 28).

All aspects of flying by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – wherever the Red Arrows are operating – is carried out subject to rigorous and well-established aviation safety rules.

It is down to the new restrictions placed by the CAA. Although the Reds aren't governed by them the event is.

The new plans imposed by the CAA would have meant changes to the display, which would have had an effect on throw their display looked hence why they are only doing a couple of flypasts. It was on the Red Arrows Facebook page.

It'll be the same at Carfest South I believe. A shame as we had a fantastic view of the display last year from the comfort of the house frown

The event organisers chose to cancel all flying for that as a good old knee jerk reaction.

The Torquay display was different to normal, I assumed it was due to the low cloud base and weather around.
