It all sounds great but she doesn't actually answer any of the OPs questions at all.
The take off performance calculations ensure they can achieve the climb gradients required on one or two engines.
Were she to answer OP's question, she might have been unable to shoehorn so many acronyms in. Heaven forfend. The take off performance calculations ensure they can achieve the climb gradients required on one or two engines.
Just imagine if it was the 1980's and you went on your honeymoon with your good lady wife and had to fly with BWIA from the Caribbean. Everyone gets on the plane and suddenly they decide too many people have got on. Can someone please get off came over the tannoy. And someone did, probably wanted an extra day in paradise.
Geoff Boycott was on that flight.
BWIA was better known as Better Walk if Able .. it not longer exists.

The aircraft of theirs I worked on were in good condition and well maintained.
I must admit to feeling slightly smug last year when we left Skiathos. Almost every other flight was using A320/321's and were going to have to make a refuelling stop, whereas our 757 didn't need to. It's sad that 757's are gradually being phased out, as they're one of my favourites - you can just feel the power in those things. I'd imagine they're fun to fly too.

I've been flying quite a lot recently on Caribbean Airlines - their successor. Geoff Boycott was on that flight.

The planes and aircrew are generally pretty good, but the customer service, systems and management are hilarious. Some highlights:
- Web check-in isn't actually web check-in - you still need to go to the check-in desk at the airport to pick up a boarding pass
- Staff leave check-in desks unmanned (to go chat with their mates), even when there's a big queue forming
- They seem to have 3 different, overlapping loyalty schemes
- Pricing and fleet management are all over the place
No wonder they don't make any money!
i've been flying into TnT for decades with various carriers and we always knew BWIA as "better walk if able".
clearly remember when the plug got pulled as our office is right at the end of the runway on Tobago - one day there were planes for the airbridge and the next day there weren't.
and then some Liat's came
i believe CAl are dropping the european routes this year ?

Yep. Recently announced. Killing the LGW route, and giving the two 767s back (which they also use for the red-eyes from New York, so bye-bye flat beds on that service). Needed to be done - there's no way they could compete against BA, especially with its stopover in St. Lucia.
