Ba777 engine fire Las Vegas
Discussion
The ways of the mods are not consistent. The Shoreham crash was moved in here pretty promptly. This accident probably won't get moved at all. I'm not that concerned really. However, you do get better technical chat in here but you will get a larger volume of chat in the "news" section.
It is interesting that it only took a few posts before a couple of the posters were rowing over in the News Forum thread.

The debate on the News section is centering on slagging off passengers for grabbing their baggage - rather than discussing what may have caused the problem, the prompt actions of the flight crew and the very good response from the airport fire service.
Already the language over there is showing lots of censored expletives.

There are 2 doors I can see on there where I would not want to exit.... From what I've read in the past it's not unusual for them to make an assessment and block a door. Not sure about opening it first - but you can only see so much, and I guess if it's opened and you think actually maybe not blocking it is what you would do.Scary stuff.

Yes. Sitting at a PC at your leisure being a moral perfectionist is easy; being trapped in a burning 'plane is rather different.onyx39 said:
Jeez....Thank god that they hadn't reached 'the point of no return' as I fear that had they taken off we might be reading a very different story.
I wonder how long the wing would have stayed attached to the fuselage had the aircraft left the ground.
The pilots clearly made an extremely quick & correct decision.
