Thankfully, relatively little damage.

Not quite got the hang of a 3-pointer has he. It says something of the strength of the u/c that the leg didn't collapse. Lucky to keep the prop too.

He seemed to be declaring a problem before he landed - asking for fire trucks etc. So I think he did well to get down.

seems strange he 2 pointed it, then stood on the brakes, nearly struck the prop etc.

maybe he kept the speed up as then the rudder would have more authority.

glad he didnt ding it too hard though

It did seem a very ginger touchdown; maybe he'd felt something odd on take off.

I'm surprised it hadn't been more widely reported.

Just after the aircraft touches the runway you can see the starboard wheel shimmy like mad, maybe he'd felt it let go on take off and was therefore expecting a problem on landing?

Edit: Just thinking if the hub/wheel/bearing had failed that might also explain the pitching forward as the wheel looks like it stops running true and digs in.

Kind of looks like a puncture, soon as the undercarriage gets load the tyre separates, looked like a pretty fine job to not strike the prop to me.

Prop did strike unfortunately according to reports.

What a beautiful aircraft, it looks so out of place at a modern airport flashing past the dreamlifter and 78s.

Watching it back, he seems to deliberately put it down on only the port main wheel at first. Then, as soon as the starboard side wheel touches down, there's resistance from the tyre or wheel. This is what pitches the nose forward, and I think it looks like a remarkable combination of skill and luck that the a/c doesn't suffer a collapsed starboard leg, or go 'nose over' completely.

The prop does seem to strike the runway too. Just at the point where the sparks fly from the wheel/leg. And when the a/c comes to a halt you can see what appears to be deformation of the blade tips.

And at 3min 12sec into the video, is that an FW190 (or replica thereof) running up in the top right hand corner of the screen? It taxis away by 3min 50 sec, so while not exactly "blink and you miss it", it's a brief appearance.

I think it's this zero.

Certainly looks like it, especially the colour scheme and the placing of the serial number.

The way the canopy is slid back was what foxed me, I think. Only part of the canopy slides back on the Zero, and when it is back it "shortens" the canopy, making it look a bit like the FW190(A) canopy when that is open. If that makes sense.

Cheers!

Looks like a pretty clear burst tyre to me.

What problem did he have when he was in the air? He obviously had some sort of issue as he declared an emergency. It does look like he did burst a tyre on landing but I think that might have been due to whatever other problem he had.
