Is that still the case? I saw it a couple of times last week, and while there were some other people there, no-one was on the track and timings were published in some detail a week or two in advance, certainly in plenty of time for me to find a spot to take some photos.

ETA: I wonder if it's down to the area, or maybe just the tour operator? Today's timings are there, but those for tomorrow and later in the week don't seem to be.

In a similar vein, Harry Potter fans have been warned about trespassing on the Glenfinnan viaduct:

Yes, sorry, I've just seen the NRM post about a tour and about restricted information. It was pulling the Cathedrals Express last week and didn't have so much trouble. It seems a pity that some of the people who go out and "mob" this specific loco don't support the other steam, either main line or preserved lines, with so much enthusiasm.

Though I do think steam heritage gets good attendance... was reading yesterday that Didcot steam museum is the second most visited tourist attraction in Oxfordshire, not too shabby (if true, as not checked that fact) with all the other things in Oxfordshire.

The heritage and marketing people really do seem to be missing a trick when it comes to steam. I think most people will be under the impression that Flying Scotsman (and possibly Tornado) are the only steam engines currently running. That certainly seems to be the impression given by news coverage of steam.

Blame the MSM for that. If it isn't those two, they don't want to know, unless it's caused disastrous disruption.

Another Flying Scotsman outing, more cases of idiots trespassing and causing disruption.

What is it with this self-entitled, self-absorbed minority who think it is in any way acceptable to wander onto a "live" railway line for the sake of a fking photograph?
