Will apparently have a Fairey Gannet Flying, I had no idea that there were any still airworthy!

Can't see Farnborough being too happy about them announcing it, pretty sure they'd have wanted this as an exclusive but i see the owners are touting for business too.

All seems a bit strange really, surely the airshow would pay the costs of transport.

Hope it pans out better than the ME 262 from last time.

The gannet is not coming to the UK this year and will be doing the circuit next year if all goes well.

I think you can add F-35b to that list too.

Anyone in the area tomorrow, which sadly I won't be. It's press day, and there's often a flypast etc.

Bit of hearsay currently going around at work, rumours are 2 A380 and a 747-800 something to do with Boeing celebrating anniversary?

Looking forward to being up close and personally with a jumbo!

One 380, is static display and the other is doing the demo. The demo aircraft will be positioned on the east apron which is on the opposite side of the runway. How it will fit is another issue haha.

There are definitely going to be restrictions on where spectators can stand outside the airfield. The canal path on the Basingstoke Csanal at the end of the runway will be a no-go zone and it seems some of the perimeter roads will also be closed to standing spectators. A favourite spot is at Southwood Golf Club and there may be restrictions there.

Considering going this year but a have never been before so have a few questions.

1) Is traffic\parking a nightmare and if not, where's the best place to leave the car?

2) If yes to above would we be better going by train?

3) Is it worth staying overnight or can you see most things and get in and out in one day?

4) Where are the best viewing spots, I have a young daughter so ideally I'd like to stay away from the massive crowds.

Yes, it's a nightmare, but when you have many thousands of people descending on the area, it always will be. Having said that, it's well organised, and if its like previous years, you will be directed to a car park, and walk or be bused to the airfield.

2) If yes to above would we be better going by train?

Quite possibly.

3) Is it worth staying overnight or can you see most things and get in and out in one day?

Unless you booked a year ago, you will struggle to find accommodation locally.

4) Where are the best viewing spots, I have a young daughter so ideally I'd like to stay away from the massive crowds.

Leave that one to someone else.

Regarding viewing spots, the crowd line runs more or less from the threshold of the runway at the A325 end to about the half way point. The ground actually slopes upwards from the runway to the road so you can actually get a decent view without having to sit right along the fence line. You can pay extra for a grandstand seat if you want but I've never bothered.

The picture below shows the airfield during one of the recent airshows. The white buildings in the top of the picture show the large exhibition chalets and the runway runs from the top left hand corner towards the bottom right hand corner.

The crowd line effectively lies parallel to the runway with the chalets behind and extends along the runway to about the half way point.
