I take it the Caesars camp end of the runway is properly off limits as expected this year?
I've got no idea, as it's not been ideal weather for cycling this week so I haven't ventured out that way.
Lot of security guards at the gates airport side of Bourley Road.

I looked for the stream after I heard a huge bang in Ash Vale... thought either someone had crashed or broken the sound barrier... Apparently it was a lightning strike on the A380!

I heard the bang and recognised it as thunder. It knocked out a lot of the communication systems at the airfield but they brought in the back up straight away and more or less continued as normal.

We were watching the A380 display and I really hope someone got it on video... If it was a lightning strike then it must have played merry hell with the aircraft at exactly the wrong moment.

Been watching him fly all week and today was definitely 'off script' on one of his final passes.

Put it this way, unless he is landing I get to see his entire display from my desk, he is always 'above' our other office (between me and the field) and only goes below the roof line out of site as he lands. Today he came over right wing down and half the plane was 'below' that office roof. He then seemed to throttle up the engines hard before he climbed around to land.

Was actually a pretty shocking moment but we had no clue why he added in this super low move. If he was hit then maybe that could have been the reason?

Google suggests it's pretty small, but has anyone had a good look at the ornithopter?

A few years ago I was fortunale to be sitting one evening at "the bar at the end of the runway" at Blangnac having a quiet shifter in the spring warmth. However I was considering just how long it would take me to walk back to my house as I eyed a very impressive weather front that had approached stealthly and was now towering, darkly, over the area in a long tall line of black cloud horizon to horizon.
Seddenly there was the muted sound of four trents at max chat as MA002 a production test 380 took ok and majestically tucked it's gear away and slowly headed straight into the center of the black clouds of the storm front. I watched with some pride thinking of my work on FTI on that airframe when suddenly as she penetrated the storm front there was a lightning strike, followed by 8 more that I could follow until it dissappeared from sight in the cloud.
Amazing stuff from an awesome aircraft!!
Next episode--watch how co workers watch astounded as 002 carries out low levet turning performance trials over Blagnac and Cornebarrieu.

Farnbourgh--pfft!!!

Todays was by far the worst flying display I've ever seen live. Absolutely pathetic in terms of participants and content, even by Farnborough standards.

Zero traffic this morning.
An hour from north west London. Now parked up an hour early and they won't let anyone in till 9.30.

PITA.

I think the AAC Historic flight sent something up to Farnborough last night.

Finishing off my gardening marathon, I looked up to see what I presumed was just a local Blackbushe GA flight low'n'lazy over my house. My brain said "nothing to see here" so I paid it no attention, until the Sioux helicopter appeared from behind a tree and I realised that a) they were keeping each other company, and b) their low'n'lazy turn to the right was going to take them off to Farnborough's runway. Best guess for the fixed wing asset was Auster AOP9 XR244, as I'm pretty sure my Spidey-sense would have tingled if it had been the Beaver that low overhead...

A four ship Stearman formation arriving just now over my house. No wing walkers spotted, but the frames were visible above the wings.

AAC historics? Wing walkers? It must be nearly public display weekend already!
