So that's who was in the fourth seat on its final flight and why it was an unannounced half-arsed dawdle around DSA - to get some telly time.

It will be great to see the plane, I'll have to record it so I can ff over his rambling. "In't Vulcans brilliant?"

You can tell you lot don't go on Facebook! hehe

Guy's FB page said:
Following on from Guy’s Spitfire programme he will once again look to the sky in his next Channel 4 programme. 'Guy Martin's Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber' airs Sunday 29th November on Channel 4 at 19.30 hrs.
The last airworthy Vulcan bomber, XH558, flew for the final time to great fanfare in October of this year. This iconic plane played a pivotal role in protecting UK interests in the post-World War II era as the first nuclear deterrent, and was also responsible for the longest raid in British military history when it successfully attacked the Falkland Islands.
Mechanic Guy Martin has been given unprecedented access to the aircraft, helping a select group of engineers prepare it for an ambitious farewell tour around of Britain. He also gets the rare chance to fly alongside the plane in formation, as well as taking the controls to try and "wheelie" the 70 tonne aircraft along a runway.
This 90 minute documentary is the definitive story of the Vulcan Bomber, featuring expert contributions from Vulcan pilots and crew who were faced with the awesome responsibility of dropping nuclear bombs.

Whatever did Channel 4 do for engineering before Guy Martin?? (apart from Equinox, obviously)

Sounds good - "Guy restores a Vulcan... ...and gets to try and wheelie one".

Guy Martin seems to connect with the public despite not being a very sociable chap.
I have enjoyed most of his programmes so far ,it is necessary to ensure that the general public keep connected to things like this as it is the public that will keep things like the Vulcan going .

Given he is autistic, yet holds a regular job down, manages to have competed in some fairly intensive road racing campaigns - prior to his crash this year and yet still manages to fit in this, hats off to him.

Correct. And as for not being very sociable.

He is, just not in a superstar way.

If your lucky enough to either be in the same locations several times a year, or live near him, most would see he is a top lad.

Everyone on this site has a degree of Aspergers (or on this planet)

The guy who 'invented' it was on radio 4 a while back and was really annoyed some people had pigeon holed it as a disability. It's part of your character. Like humour or...

Hans Asperger who defined it died in 1980.

Aspergers is about having traits and is on a scale, if it was (for instance) 1 to 10 with 1 having lots of traits and 10 having only a few then I guess GM would be an 8. This is 'high functioning' which means almost normal or nearly 'NT' - Neurotypical or having his brain wired almost correctly.

It is exactly these traits which have made him the person he is, he hasn't battled against them. It's quite a difficult one to get your head around even if you have it.

Although you haven't been very specific, I've heard he's very hard work from numerous people who have worked with him over the years. I won't go into detail as it's a bit unfair to talk about someone in such a way - especially as they could quite easily read this.

That's like arguing a Fiesta is a mild form of Focus because they are both Fords. An outsider might think they are similar or the same, but the owners won't.
Autistic sufferers have speech development issues, AS generally don't.
