I see they are having their Hovershow at Lee on Solent this weekend.

I shall try to get down there to show a bit of support.

The weekend weather is not looking good for either event unfortunately, though Sunday is supposedly the drier day.

I've already committed to a Pompey pub crawl on Saturday so a bit of rain won't be an issue personally.
Hoping to get down to Lee on Sunday as there is plenty to see indoors anyway, and getting aboard the Princess Anne will be worth the effort.

Hope the Bomo airshow goes well but the crowds were a bit much for me last year, speaking to a few photters in decent positions they had been there since 7am to secure their spots...the flying started at about 1pm!

I wandered down to the museum yesterday to see what was going on. There was a lot of wind yesterday and the solent looked rather rough, so the planned rides obviously couldn't take place. We were told to return at a later date for that, which is fair enough.

You don't realise just quite how big the SRN4 is, they are bloody massive. The Princess Margaret was all closed up, Princess Anne was open, The car deck had a small display, a few cars and some model hovercraft and at one point a brass band in! Passenger compartment was open and actually was in reasonable nick.

At first glance Margaret looks to be in better shape from the outside, nevertheless she is to be scrapped and Anne will be restored, which amounts to a lick of paint and taking the propellers from Margaret. Anne will never run again, let alone go to sea. Interestingly looking at pictures on the web seems to indicate that they have/were working on Margaret at one time as there are pictures of her looking a little shabbier than she does now and in pictures she is missing her props, which are now in place.

The rest of the museum is basically a few sheds of old hovercraft, including one of the old, small Isle Of Wight craft, the one used in "Die Another Day", a couple of old military ones (including the BH7 outside). None of them look like they are ever going to go anywhere again.

We then went on down to the submarine museum at Gosport, most of you will be aware they've recently had quite a bit of money from lottery grants etc, I think they've spent it quite well, definitely worth a look if you are in the area.

A few pics of both sites in this album: http://s1044.photobucket.com/user/Crafty_77/librar...

They did, my mate had one of them. In fact most of my mates were involved in either building them for or driving them in the film!

I went down to Lee on Solent today, but the photographs I took don't really add much to the photos that have already been uploaded on this thread.

So instead, from happier times:
