Road Trip from London to Monte Carlo Ideas

Hi All, I want to plan a road trip from London to Monte Carlo in late August 2016. Would like some ideas on good routes to take for 1. Picturesque scenery 2. Stretching the cars legs out a little if you get what i mean 😁.
Any suggestions on routes to take?

Mt Ventoux in Provence, gods own driving road

A couple of vids to tempt you, the lower section is used in the French hill climb championship & the clip of the upper was a shakedown by a certain Mr Loeb before his Pikes Peak run, its a public raod & will take 20 Mins at sensible speeds

Best way to experience it is to go up very early, its a mecca for cyclists but few start early & any you meet are struggling up, not straight lining corners coming down. We normally stay in Bedoin & go up at first light

There's also a road down the other side & another that splits 1/2 way up to give you another road to play on

Another General tip

In August stay off the motorways in France at the weekend, they are often rammed
