Every now and again a car comes along that has me thinking if only I could afford that!

Sorry Jag fans, but for me the D comes a poor second to the DB3s, granted the D is the clear winner in the success stakes but when it comes to drop dead beauty the 3s is the winner by a country mile. If I could buy any car, money no object, this would be it. If only!!

For me, if I had the means I'd have these 5

1980's Aston Martin V8 Vantage coupe
Muira
Gordon Keeble
Triumph 2.5pi
Triumph Vitesse 2ltr MK2 saloon

Yes, not all great cars, but they just have their appeal to me.

Back in the 90s a client knew I loved my classics and took me to a back street garage that was a tiny Peugeot dealer. I wondered why as we walked in to the workshop, seeing a 205 having a service, until my eye fell upon a car covered over. It was one of the six (?) RHD Daytona Spiders. Then the door to Aladdin's cave was opened and therein was the Dick Seaman Type 35 Bugatti, but more importantly amongst many other cars a DB4 Zagato (5,000 miles from new) and a DB3S, the very car that came second twice at Le Mans registered 62 EMU. I got to drive that car on the A5, and to me it has always been drop-dead gorgeous. I see 63 EMU in magazines and at the Revival, but I often wonder where the most important one went. I know that both Astons were sold on at the beginning of the century.

It must be a sign of approaching middle age when Terry Thomas' apparel makes sense.
