Hi, instead of the usual "What Car" thread, this one is a wee bit more challenging in that its a novelty "What TWO Cars" thread.

We (Mrs Forzaminardi and I) need two cars. General notes:
- Total budget £8k-ish
- Both must be practical, one can be a Mini/Small hatchback/Coupe so long as the other is a 4/5 door thing.
- Both petrol.
- Both auto preferably (essential for her).
- Both comfortable for day to day and occasional long distance trips.
- One at least (ideally both) has to have some character about it.
- One at least (probably the same one) has to be pretty powerful/fast.
- Both to have a reasonable reputation for reliability.

Do your best, PH.

Um....£8K? Yikes

Fun/Toy

BMW Z4 convertible 2.5ltr so punchy enough (0-60 7.5 seconds and 192bhp) and an auto box that is smooth and fun. 80,000 miles examples go for under £4K

(Alternative was a Mini Cooper but it isn't that comfy for long journeys. Not sure what the auto box is like either)

Normal Car

Okay this is a bit left field but it is comfy and quick - Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the Volkswagen Passat 3.2 FSI V6 DSG 4Motion 4dr. Eats miles and looks nice and has a nice cabin. 0-60 in less than 7 seconds This one is ex security services:

Both come to under £8K and will give you lots of pleasure (if they don't break down)
