Some of my fondest airshow memories are the older, mostly 2nd Gen. fast jet stuff. This includes in no particular order:
F-104
Lightning
F-4
Perhaps we need a thread for "Fondest airshow memories", or maybe it already exists?
Yup.....and yes, I do seem to remember there being a thread on that topic some years back (actually probably quite a good few years back )F-104
Lightning

That's good to know, thanks for the tip chaps.
It's mainly the traffic getting in and out that puts me off.
Having done Goodwood quite early a couple of years ago I still felt it was busy, but not ridiculous. Probably arrived before 8am and queued up to an hour to get in.
Talk about the traffic a bit more? It's legendary that its bad but how bad? It's mainly the traffic getting in and out that puts me off.

If you arrive about 9am are you stuck in a 3 hour queue?
Is the A417 Cirencester any better than the A419 Swindon or A361 Burford if I have the numbers right

If you arrive at the back of the queue at 9am, you'll be doing well to get into the airfield by 11am.....probably later than that.If you arrive about 9am are you stuck in a 3 hour queue?

9am is way too late if you want a full day there.

What's the best way to arrive and what sort of time for Saturday? Coming from Bristol direction.
Traditionally go on the Friday but taking the nephew this year so that's not an option.
Last year, I went Saturday and Sunday and so used two different carparks. Both days I was in by 7 no problem. Queues built up quickly to get in on foot after parking (gates open at 8??) however I think the gates are open earlier this year?Traditionally go on the Friday but taking the nephew this year so that's not an option.
2 years ago I arrived on Saturday at 6:30 and there was no big queue, but it built up quite quickly afterwards and by opening time I couldn't see the end behind me.
I have however a question about Friday, as things seem to have changed since 2014.
IIRC back then the display started somewhere around 2 pm and I arrived at about 11:30. I could park at a very empty Parking near the green entrance and took the shuttle bus to the showground (green area being closed on Friday). This year I plan to arrive at about 10:30 (I arrive at Heathrow at 8:30), but display starts at 11:00, do you folks think it will be possible to enter from the red entrance (which is closer coming from LHR?) or it will be a total mess?

Getting in early, the lesser spotted plane spotter can be seen legging it faster than Linford after a dodgy curry on the way to bog to get the fence line, I did find that amusing.
But there are some serious camera lenses out to play, I can but dream on that ownership.
Last year we did the Saturday walk around and sat on the grass on the Saturday then booked a seat in a stand on the Sunday, very relaxed on the Sunday and with catering and toilets all to ourselves (the stand that is).

Me and my friend walk at a casual pace and have got front row 2/2 tries now. Very relaxed But there are some serious camera lenses out to play, I can but dream on that ownership.

Same here, many years of walking in, it's fine for a 'front row' spot, and we enter on one of the routes that's a bloody long walk from the gate to anywhere that's not basically hanging off the end of the runway.
It's an incredibly relaxed day if you're there ready for gates opening, I'm glad more don't do it!
