Reminds me of my days commissioning the Class 91s, we used to run light loco a bit and that was quick. Sadly limited to 80mph IIRC.

Sometimes cab space was limited to I had to sit in the back, that was an odd experience!

0-60 in 14 seconds not that quick but the acceleration doesn't seem to relent at all does it?!

I tried it once with a 56.
Full power while holding it on the straight air.
Can't remember the 0 - 60 time, but when I took the brake off it sat right down at the back !
wink

37, straight air on, full power till it overloads then shut off, release air and crack throttle at same time - wheelie!!

Filthy look from Buck was icing on the cake smile

2 X 56's to bring back from York one Sat afternoon years ago.
Mr Dodds was the driver and 'needed to be back for boozer opening' - started rear loco and multi'd them.

6000+ BHP, 200 -ish tonnes...

Caught and passed an HST - him on fast, us on the slow.
Great fun until we tried to slow down smile

About the same power / weight ratio as a Deltic locomotive with the derated Deltic engines 50 years ago. It would have been possible to run a Deltic locomotive with a total of 8000bhp or so.

About the same power/weight but tractive effort spread over twice as many axles wink

I'll counter your superior tractive effort with the Deltic's noise and clag.

0-62mph in 14s isn't all that impressive compared to a car. But 0-124mph in 30s is going some for an 85ton vehicle. Seems to have a completely constant rate of acceleration throughout the speed range.

Didn't a Deltic blow up on the Blyth & Tyne? Sure I read about it on here some time ago.

If only I knew what? Part-time environmentalist perhaps? Save the rabbits from the Deltic clag!

That's not bad by Deltic standards. Looks like it's running on only one engine!
