Anyone else running one?
Just got a Pi up and running serving FlightRadar24.
Already realising that my antenna isn't man enough for much more that 100nm.

(mods, appreciate that this is a computer thing, but it's flight related and may get a better audience here)

Have you thought about feeding 360radar or adsb exchange they both show unfiltered traffic using MLAT. Much more interesting than flight radar. Both websites have great forums offering loads of advice and the guys in charge actually give a toss.

I'll have a nose at both of those. FR was the first site I've used and best UI as far as I was concerned.

FR are the big boys but they filter traffic so all you get from the other feeders is what FR want to show you, i.e. no military, no police, loads of business jets missing etc.

Now feeding ADSBExchange and Flightaware as well. Can't find any details on 360radar, unless I'm being blind.
Dashboard for FlightAware https://flightaware.com/adsb/stats/user/boostbysli...
Mildly moved my antenna this morning to about 3 foot further along the roof, every little helps right?

I need to knock down the Malverns and a chunk of Worcester, then I'm good to go!

Adsb exchange has great uk/Europe coverage and is mainly US based.

360 radar is more uk based but has loads of great overlays

Both offer a similar UI and are unfiltered.

Unless I'm missing it, I can't see any details on 360radar for config of a Pi, other than inviting them to configure it for you.
I'll wait on that front.

Hi Weeboot.

Well this could turn out to be expensive biggrin

I was researching an outside aerial for my newly acquired Uniden UBC3500XL Air band scanner and revisited your thread.

I looked on the ADSB Exchange site and saw you can buy the antenna, Pi, Filters, Data receiver and cabling for around $200.

Do you just need that setup ( 1 aerial - 1 Pi - 1 Filter - 1 Data Receiver ) to feed multiple sites as you are doing or is it multiple components?

You can feed multiple sites with one rig. Even if coverage looks good in your area on flight radar, having more receivers helps MLAT which enables you to see more stuff like helicopters police military etc f

Bare bones kit sees me at about £70

Have a look here at my FR24Pi wishlist on Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/registry/wishlist/36LM6YUX...

Ignore the pigtail, SMA filter, and ADS-B antenna, those are for when I decide to lash a pole to the side of the house.

I initially took a bare Jessie install of Rasbian https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
set it up with fr24feeder and Dump1090 https://www.flightradar24.com/raspberry-pi

Then installed Virtual RadarServer to display the coverage maps http://www.virtualradarserver.co.uk/

Following El Stovey's comments I added the flightaware feeder http://uk.flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/build and the ADSB Exhange feeder https://www.adsbexchange.com/how-to-feed/

So now I'm delivering ADSB and MLAT data to all three.

Excellent - don't think I am up to building the Pi - so I'll buy in.

Checked Flight Aware for coverage and there were a couple near by ( within 5 miles ) so it seems I could add something - does being on higher ground help?

As For Flight Radar - how do you check coverage?

I have been thinking of doing this for a long time, as military helicopters are always flying over my house, and the odd interesting thing like warbirds, and I don't usually see them on the radar sites as they are low level, and I seem to be in a dead spot for coverage. So I have recently been ordering bits to add to the community hopefully soon.

I've been doing some reading and it seems that Flightaware's pro-stick is definitely worth a look.

I've updated my Amazon list to replace the standard DVB-T stick with the kit required.
The USB extension cable is there as I intend to mount it in a weatherproof box outside, reducing the coax line length as much as possible.

Should be done in the next month or so.
