There is always the option of helping the customer rather than being antagonistic. Worth trying some time.

All taxpayer's subsidy should be removed from the railways, let them sink or swim.
Sigh
Is the thought of helping the customer an alien concept to you as well?

You didn't read what I put. Even when I give someone some info, they disregard and ask someone else, people who use the rail network seem to want to he utterly spoon fed.

Taxpayers subsidy goes to network rail, which maintains the infrastructure, you what you'd have is TOCs making money and trains being latter.

High five!

I support good value for the taxpayer and good customer service. Is that not something you support?

And when they sink, how do people get to work...?

Most of my customers are like that, but I know only too well that they can take their money elsewhere if I don't treat them like customers.

Sometimes you have to go through pain to improve efficiency.

Use the money extracted from road users to build better roads, give commuters a choice. Plenty of options, most of which will be an improvement on the current situation on Southern Rail.

How can expecting good customer service and good value for the taxpayer be regarded as "trolling"?

A couple of front line staff explain how it's easy to get fed up with being spat at, sworn at and verbally abused and others have explained that running a railway isn't just about profit but I think you know that.

Troll away.

Those staff that are fed up with dealing with customers shouldn't be dealing with customers, if that means then there's no suitable position for those staff then so be it.

Whatever the railway is about, it shouldn't involve my tax money.

Again, how can expecting good customer service and good value for the taxpayer be regarded as "trolling"?

Isn't Southern one of the few profitable franchises? ie the income from fares etc covers all government subsidy including those to Network Rail for the track.

Get the V8 fettled, just drive and do us all a favour.

Why shouldn't it involve your tax money?
Is your money special and only you can dictate where it's spent?

I support both. Seems like you hate the railway either way and want it to crumble.

Generally, the best incentive for good customer service by an individual is the incentive of reduced or zero income in the event of poor customer service. That incentive becomes much less effective when there is the option of injection of taxpayer's money.

Jobs in the railway sector are unlikely to disappear due to poor customer service, hence the poor customer service continues.

The entitlement culture continues.

There should be no entitlement to taxpayer's money for any business operating in a vaguely competitive environment, it reduces the element of competition.

I certainly hate the waste of taxpayer's money, I also resent the lack of accountability to the customer and to the taxpayer.
