can only hope Thomas Cook are next, dreadful Company...
My eldest has just started working for TC as an apprentice, am sure he would be thrilled to lose his job after all the effort he put into securing that position from the hundreds of hopefuls because you think they are "dreadful".Why would you wish the demise of a whole *British* company as you had a bad experience, or are you pointing out holiday charter airlines not up to your usual high standards in aviation ?
Anyway, nice to hear Monarch are still with us !

A few monarch employees on here. Good luck guys.
Cheers, it's not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment, that's for certain. However, we're operating as normal, so the rumours of our demise two nights ago were cobblers.I have to stay off Pprune though for fear of self combusting at the garbage that's being posted as fact there...

It's fking shocking aint it. Whilst I don't know the ins and outs behind the scenes, the fact the 'social media' ( I use the term social loosely) can churn out a such a turn of events that spreads to forums and people start wondering if they have a job the next week, never mind if someones flight is going to canx. Good luck though, I know times have been tough there.
I think something was going on, otherwise why charter wide body aircraft, although that could be for other reasons I guess.
However has the damage already been done ? Does anyone know if bookings are down ? I wouldn't book summer 2017 flights with them, but then again I probably wouldn't fly with them anyway. The staff have always been good but the aeroplanes are so uncomfortable and if you don't manage to book extra legroom you have to be a smurf to fit in a seat.

I'm an ex Monarch Engineering member, I did my apprenticeship there. Left 18 years ago to go into F1.
I did have doubts about leaving to go into F1 as its a volatile sport but it looks like I made the right decision for the future.
I hope my existing mates there don't get any bad news.

I've always found monarch an excellent airline to fly with. It will be a real shame if they don't survive.
Flown with them once (return). Never, ever again. It was one of their 757-200s, which appeared to be old, knackered, and have the most ridiculously tight seat pitch. DIdn't help that on the outward leg we got a seat without a window, so it felt like sitting in a prison van for 2.5 hours. My other half works for them, not much has been said she said. But they seem to be getting new 737 MAX planes next year so Greybull must be pumping fair wad of cash into it and believe in the company.
Ive been on a couple of flights with them and always found them a cut above easyjet or Ryanair which were like national express coaches. Ok the planes themselves were not as new as Ryanair's but the customer service was better on Monarch.

Yes, I forgot that bit.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37524259
'It is believed that some of the money will be used to proceed with an order for 30 Boeing aircraft.'
For a company of questionable solvency that seems rather a jump to me.
