Looking at the seat guru map it appears that the seats are angled inwards away from the window, unlike the 380 which seems to be in the normal config. now i like to look out during the flight. Can i do this on 747 first without being a contortionist?

yes. the angle is very minor. the window is a little in front of you though, might have to sit quite upright

(great first world problem btw!)

Is there one to your right, or does that 'belong' to the seat behind?

To be honest, if you want to spend the flight peering out of the window, I would choose 61A or 61K upstairs in Business.

You don't travel in F for the view out the window.

Any photos of how this configuration looks on the 777 as the seating is 4 across from row 1.

Taking my son to Rio in April & flying BA First, i've selected 1 E/F for the daytime flight out but 2A & 3A on the overnight flight back as is perceived to be quieter.

Plenty. "BA F 777", google, images. Lots of different perspectives on the cabin available.

Thanks. I did Google BA First Images but they all seem the same as yours above for the 747 with a few of the A380. I'll have another look.

No.

That's my window you can see. You have to lean forwards a bit to see out of it if you're looking to scan around.

Well , It looks like a A380 seat to IAD has popped up as that suits me better for the trip doing to west coast via Montreal/Chicago/St louis/Denver and SFO
Will slum it prem economy on a 747 on the way back!!

And it wont be window licking all the way there, more nosebagging in extremis

Those pictures hurt....

Last year we did a Vegas trips with some friends. Return flight was Vegas to Heathrow, then an internal flight to Manchester.

All went normal, and we went through the check in gate. On arriving on the airplane the stewardess said welcome Mr & Mrs Surveyor, step this way... Actually she said to my wife you need to go down the other isle - and she turned left.

A little confused we walked into the ensconced comfort and warmth of first class. We were getting excited.

On stopping at our seats there were people sat in them. The stewardesses turn to be confused. She started looking at the boarding passes.

What it transpired had happened, is that when I'd passed the passports and boarding passes to the gate agent, she had scanned them and put the Manchester pass on top - then closing the passport with just the end sticking out. We were in Row 5 on the Manchester flight...

It was a long walk back to economy....

I'm pretty convinced that the stewardess thought this was deliberate and that we were trying it on - but we really were not...

My son and I travelled in 1A/K to Vegas and back last summer - slightly less room in these as the walls are tapering towards the nose, but great for privacy and also close enough to have a natter if you're travelling with a partner. if you really want to peer out of the window you can always move around and perch on the foot rest.

Not a patch on Emirates F where I will be on Sunday. I did a Club World BA flight to and from Jamaica last year and the product (hard and soft) was shocking. When I mentioned it to the cabin crew, she asked to what I was comparing it, to which I replied "Emirates". "Well, we're never going to be able to compete with that" was her reply, which left me slightly surprised, as our national Carrier throwing in the towel. Just shows, the amount of support the UAE Government must be putting into their flagship (as opposed to Etihad, their National carrier to produce what I still feel is a market leading product.

An enormous amount of state support regardless of how much they try to deny it surely helps there. BA club is due for a redesign shortly I believe.

I prefer Emirates business from a comfort perspective but it's so typically Arab in its horrid colour scheme, my ideal would be the neutral colours of BA mixed with the space and comfort of Emirates. Trying the refitted AA 777 next week, see how that compares. Although to be honest so long as I can find a comfortable sleeping position and arrive rested and intoxicated wherever I'm going I don't really care too much. It's a bit like saying that an A8 is st because the S Class exists. It's still a pleasant way to get from A to B.
