A great shame although probably not unexpected if people are honest.
What else is there to be said apart from let's hope that her final year in the skies, 2013, is as memorable as 2012 has been.
Let's hope that VTTS can raise the money needed to get them through the winter & into 2013 as we need to see her in the air for one more season.
Although having said that maybe the 'farewell' flight on 29 September would be a fitting epitaph with most peoples inalienable of her being the dipping of the wings as she flew onto her next venue.
I would like to see her again next year however if my last sight of 558 in the air was the dipping of her wing as she headed off down to Filton with 4 trails of dirty exhaust flow behind her maybe I wouldn't be too upset.
Far better a happy memory than one tarnished think.
VTTS - I salute you & thank you for getting this magnificent aircraft back into the air.
If 2012 does turn out to be her last year in the air then those who got her back into the air should be very proud of what they achieved.

XH558 is kept in a Hanger that is accessible from both "air side" and outside the fence, they also do tours so maybe it could be organised along with a guided tour of the aircraft for those who attend.
I'm not sure what the capacity of the carpark by the hanger is (but it is a reasonable size) or what the limit is on tour groups is either but I'm sute the Vulcan guys would welcome such an event.

Apparently Chris Evans has twittered that he's going to look into keeing 558 flying and to save the Muppets....
Its time to start the engines, its time to light the lights....
probably nothing more than publicity but if he can spent £15m on a car (or whatever if was) , he can afford to spend a few quid on 558!Its time to start the engines, its time to light the lights....
