Scheduled for 13.00 Come over to the Vulcan to the skies tent, my stickered up Golf will be on their stand!!
Ah, I did ask who owned that! Spent a very happy few minutes over with you guys as she did her thing, goosebumps when the afterburners went!Remind me to buy the book though, forgot to come back for it on the Sunday
Hoping for good weather when she should be doing a display at Blackpool on Sunday afternoon. Still not worked out why they are also doing the air-show on the Monday but without the Dakota, Vulcan and Typhoon. I could understand it if it was a bank holiday weekend, although there will be lots of people around with it being School holiday time.
Full display this time, unlike a couple of years ago when it was just 2 or 3 passes over the display area.

Well, before she makes it to Blackpool I'll be paying an up close visit to her at Aldergrove on Sunday at 12.00pm. Looking forward to that.Full display this time, unlike a couple of years ago when it was just 2 or 3 passes over the display area.

looks like "Vulcan cleared for IFR as opposed to just VFR flight."

Does that mean 20,000ft for example rather than say 10,000 ft for transfer flights etc.?See - http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=14&...

It would be great to have some nice modern air to air shots of the Vulcan pulling some vapour trails.

It'll let them get out of the low level chop (and salty sea air... and shark infested custard) on transits but I doubt they'll always choose to go high as they can as they'd lose a lot of publicity/goodwill value from people seeing her overhead.
Good point about the goodwill/publicity. I was at the Y Not music festival, Pikehall Nr Matlock, Derbyshire over the weekend, and we got a free flypast right behind the main stage a little way off. I was standing at the edge of Dolly Dagger's Bar, and pointed it out to the Mrs and my son."Look there. That's the Vulcan!" Says I. Bloke a short distance away gives a derisory snort and says "Vulcan? My arse!"
A few seconds later and he decides he has somewhere better to be, as the old dame banks slightly right, giving us the full 'Delta' effect, a thin trail of smoke from each of the four engines. Admittedly I even had a glance down at the pint of (very nice) Perry in my hand, wondering if I'd perhaps had a few too many, but I'm glad to say I wasn't seeing things (yet) and it was brilliant to see XH558 out 'in the wild' away from an airshow. It was far more of a treat to see her when we weren't expecting to.
Not sure if this has been posted, but appeared on my FB feed today from the folk at #558

Apologies that the video may be buffered to death. But enjoy.
And from the local rag...

I was unable to resist the temptation. The Airfix kit is in my possession.
