Follow it on Twitter and they have live updates. It nearly always takes off and lands via the Austerfield end, not our end sadly.

Isn't it, wasn't it supposed to fly over Evesham ttoday at 3.40. I've just got down the pub and the locals are all outside the pub still waiting.

Maybe it's been called back to active service or something cause it ain't gone over yet by all accounts! smile

558 flew in from Stratford direct to Throckmorton after circling around for a while. I was in McDonalds on the A46 when she flew overhead at 1200 feet just before 3pm which was the scheduled display time.

A magnificent sight.

Damn, I'm well miffed I missed that. I hadn't a clue it was coming over until the lads said in the pub. Looks we all missed it then. So much for their timing, never trust a man with a pint in his hand. smile

What I can't understand though is my mate took his 4 year old down the park to watch and were there from around 2 until 5PM and said it didn't flyover the park. confused

I was at Sundown Adventureland (near Dunham in Nottinghamshire)with the kids last Friday when XH558 flew pretty much over head at a low level, the amusement park was pretty good, but this was a huge bonus!

Excited for the Swansea show now, not seen XH558 before so looks like it may be the first and last time I see her fly frown

To keep her flying would cost a large sum of money, aside from sharp intakes of breath and chin rubbing, have any actual figures been released as to what this cost would be ?

The necessary equipment and components are simply not available, for any price. If Rolls Royce were willing to consider tooling up for new engines it might be possible to estimate the cost to within a few million.

And then there's the added FI issue if you had plenty of engines to use...... laugh

Took that the last time I was down there, fully expecting it to fly over my head.

It's not money this time. Under CAA rules they need experts to back them, ie RR for the engines. IIRC they need three 'experts' & two of them have said they aren't doing it anymore.

There are a few rumours about but nothing confirmed so far fingers crossed its nothing to serious as I think spare engines are a bit limited.......
