It drops in and out, I looked earlier for it and no sign, then it popped back in for a short while and has gone again.
Why no noise though, I remember as a kid it came to the Barton air show and practically shook the house to bits.

I was at Elvington to watch it

A nice little display with some big turns and plenty of noise

Spontaneous applause from the crowd - all of who were very excited!

There was an open day for the University using the airfield for parking. One guy with his kids (one University age girl and a lad about 14 at a guess) were just getting their car to go home from that as I parked up at about 1245. I told them what they would see if they stayed 25 minutes.

They stayed and the lad's eyes were shining bright and as big as saucers when XH558 flew over! Good call to stay Dad!

I went to Carlisle airport to see it today. Was good to see. Very quiet coming in then very loud as they pulled a few turns and climbs before they left.

Popped to Barton Aerodrome this afternoon.

XH558 looked amazing, so graceful as it did a couple of passes.
I was surprised by the lack of noise too though.

Absolutely terrific. Watched from a hillside in Lyme Park (by the folly, for those who know it) from where we had a great view across several counties. At about three o'clock the traffic in and out of Manchester stopped. The Vulcan swooped low over Barton before flying South to the airport where it performed a steep climb out. It banked over Alderley and made two low passes over what remains of Woodford before disappearing in the direction of the Welsh hills.

Thank you XH558 and enjoy your retirement; you'll be sorely missed.

Watched from Newark airmuseum.

Brilliant, the museum itself was packed as was the over fill car parking. Most of newarks aircraft are in good condition and the grounds are lovely too. A lot of the aircraft were open (for a very reasonable 50p) including their own Vulcan.

XH558 ran in almost directly over our heads. A couple of noisy passes including a tight, steep turning climb and a wing over and she was gone.

It's the only aircraft I know that gets applauded at the start and end of each appearance.

Wonderful.

Special thanks must go to the crew, yes, I imagine its pretty fun but it just also be tiring flinging that big old bird around.

Also thanks to the VTTS member who fielded my stupid questions.

Almost didn't bother as was engaged with family duties - so pleased we did now.

Saw it go over Manchester airport, did not dissapoint, went past fairly sedately and then aimed upward and over, I hadnt realised how much I missed seeing them fly.

Sod HS2, spend the cash on making new Vulcans, oh, and get Concorde flying again.

Went to Elvington to see her yesterday. She looked stunning climbing with the sun on her back.

Chaos getting out of there afterwards though!

I'm not sure if I will get to see her flying again, no local shows without Waddington this year. Makes me sad really. How do you get so attached to a machine that isn't even yours?!

She did a couple of circuits at Sunderland. Mainly circled Nissan (!) rather than XL319.
Lovely to see her up north, however briefly.
Poor photo at distance from cheap phone, but best I could do.

was very fortunate to see it yesterday near East Midlands Airport.
Amazing to think that the plane is 55 years old. Utterly glorious site and such a shame its life will soon be ended.

I tried to explain exactly that to someone a work at few weeks ago.

He didn't understand why so many people have got so much affection for an aircraft & he also couldn't get his head around the fact that she is known, simply, as XH558.

Come to think of it - I don't really either!!!

It's just one of those things. Rather like Concorde I guess.

Either way my last sight of 558 in the air will be at RIAT in a couple of weeks. Working at the Tattoo so I will get to see her every day for three days!!

Can't wait.
