Her display at RIAT yesterday was fantastic, it seemed like they were flying her harder than I've seen before.
Apparently a bit harder than planned it seems as today they said on the tannoy that today would be less energetic but didn't say why :-(However going by the steep climb & wing-over this afternoon I'm not sure that the words of the CAA were understood!!!!
The display was, as always, superb.
And the fly-by with the Red Arrows was the icing on the cake. A stunning way to end her RIAT display career.

Hmm. it's a fine line indeed. I watched "that" take off on video and thought to myself, "you will not be doing that again, mate".
Still, it was exciting watching the crew keep the nose from slipping down on the turn out...
....perhaps the most blatant ones was the Mirage 2000 practice after his display check out had been done at Leuchars open day some years ago...
....basically once his display routine was verified, his practice consisted of all the things he couldn't do on a formal display
Being i/c "crash" cover for the day, a heads up would have been appreciated, not only by myself and the guys on the team [in our top of the line tractor and "crash kit" on a trailer ensemble ] but those in air traffic who so nearly hit the crash alarm on a number of occasions never mind a couple of near heart attacks
[that really was an eye opener to low level "carefree handling btw]

And before Vulcan went off to join up with the Red Arrows, at the end of the display. Long shot, away from the display area.

It got dusty in here watching that. How does an aeroplane evoke such a reaction?
I'd have loved to have been there.

I managed just over 10Gb of photos today, approx. 2300 all told...
Just a couple of 558 here, it was an amazing display and the commentator had a huge lump in his throat as he said it was the final time the skies above Fairford would see a Vulcan display.
Amazing how the crowd started to thin as soon as 558 had finished!
Would you mind if i had that second photo put on a canvas? Happy to send a few quid to a charity of your choice if thats ok?Just a couple of 558 here, it was an amazing display and the commentator had a huge lump in his throat as he said it was the final time the skies above Fairford would see a Vulcan display.
