The one they have landed there no problem.

Runway is long enough to land, not take off again.

Don't be too hard on yourself - The Vulcan Taking Off is spot on and one of the best I have seen!

Didn't it land there before the runway was severed?

We had the same problem at Strathallan with our Lanc, Shackleton and Comet. When the museum was forced to close by the local council, the Lanc was trucked out in bits - the other two, remaining unsold and with advancing corrosion, were scrapped, unfortunately.

Agreed with NM62 there, excellent shots and really good composition. I love the under wing walk and the one where it's got all the crowd in. The ones in the air are really good as well. Best one for me is the one landing with the chute fully deployed.

Practice, practice, practice - I used to take aircraft photographs when I was younger ( 1973 to 1985 ) and used Kodachrome 64, mistakes were expensive, I just wished we had had digital technology back then.

I really should sift through the 3.000+ slides I have in the loft smile

BTW Just scanned your other albums - the F-18 and Bf-109 are perfect to me.

Part of VTTS's latest e-mail gives a link to the Avro Museum at Woodford - looks worth a visit

Very weird email from VTTS yesterday, surely ANY announcement of a final flight is going to draw a large crowd? Unless they are implying that the last flight most definitely won't be at a weekend.

Or prepping people to that the flight will be announced at very short (or no?) notice to prevent people from crowding to see it.

The thing is, people _didn't_ flock to Doncaster in their thousands on the 'final tour' weekend. They heeded the request to stay away even though many were under the impression it was the final flight. By creating all this mystery about future flights, the VTTS is alienating the many of the very people they will need in the future, those who are sufficiently interested in the non-flying future of XH558 to dip into their pockets and continue funding it.

On the Sunday the roads at the end and side of the runway were nose to tail with parked cars.

On the Sunday the roads at the end and side of the runway were nose to tail with parked cars.
In their newsletter issued after the tour, VTTS wrote, "Our sincere thanks also go to all those that heeded our calls to avoid viewing XH558 around Robin Hood Airport. It allowed the area to remain relatively unaffected and gives us confidence to plan a final celebratory flight with the full co-operation of the police and local authorities."

That doesn't sound as though they were worried about the numbers present, does it? Someone I know who was there reckoned it was fairly quiet in comparison with his previous weekend visits.
