So, VTTS have done a deal with Peel to extend their lease at Doncaster until the end of 2023 then........
Is it to give them more time to dismantle and move?
I suspect its more likely they don't actually have anywhere to move it to.
I also thought that but was being kind to them.

Burning more money on the lease with minimal income and nine months to get out of town. Sounds like a stay of execution rather than a ray of hope for the future of XH558. Just my opinion, of course.

I'm just surprised a hard nosed business group such as Peel have agreed to it.....after the payment failures of VTTS previously to Peel, I'd have thought they'd be wanting VTTS off their site asap.

Good point. Maybe Peel’s lease extension has more to it than meets the eye.

How many hangers are there and go peel have any use for them? If someone wants to rent a bit of tarmac then I'm sure peel will take their money until they want the space.

I don’t think that is any part of it the vtts decision to pay a lease extension. Truth is probably that they have no buyer and nobody to do the strip if they found one.

Peel will be happy to take whatever money then Chen get while the place sits there mothballed. Perhaps the lease terms have some sharp clauses put in to get rid of vtts or to tie their assets should they not move it/pay the lease

Not sure who or what you mean by 'they have no buyer'......?
VTTS are not selling anything...?

I think it more that VTTS have no option to go anywhere else frankly. They have used up (or more accurately abused) a lot of goodwill within the historic aviation community, so finding another location to move it to, and in a way that will keep paying the stupid full time salaries etc they have been paying themselves with no real long term viability was a non-starter imho.
I think their only option has been likely to throw their lot in with the council, in the hope that the council will resort to a CPO or some other crazy scheme to take control of an airport that really not a lot of chance of long term viability....and that will thus allow them to stay on site.
Peel own the site anyway, and they need the council to approve any re-development, so have probably worked out they will not get that (yet) and so will likely be happish, to sit back and strike a lease deal with the council, and watch them fail, and thereby then it will make it a lot easier to get the planning to redevelop into a logistics park further down the line, as the council could hardly deny on basis that they also failed to make the airport a viable concern.

Given the mismanagement…do you really think vtts aren’t trying to get something for xh558?

The moving her and creating a standalone museum is all smoke and mirrors

Even with f Ellington etc wanted it I’m sure vtts would want something, even if it’s scrap value on its weight

Yes.
No one is going to buy it......laugh for all the same reasons they can't move it to anywhere else.
If they were happy to, and could, weigh the the thing in for scrap value, they could have done that already to meet the July deadline.

Just farcical now.

So you have a major international property group (Peel) who have tried and failed to make DSO a commercial success.

The local council now thinks they can CPO the land and run it as an airport, with VTTS staying on site.

The chances of either venture being financially viable are slim to none.

To be fair, it was patently obvious that Peel didn't want DSO to be a success because they wanted to build houses on it.....

DSA chaps.

Also chill. This is on the back of the council asking for a loan to pay for initial CPO costs, and initial discussion. Lots of water to go through yet…

I see they have just launched another fund raiser. £35 to have your name under the wing.
Good grief. I wonder what the take up will be ?
