Been discussed on her many times and the answer is it depends. There was a good piece on the BBC Breakfast this morning about the Vulcans and Blackbuck, speaking to a pilot and nav who took part. I've read the book about it, but it seemed to be to be a good informative piece, might be worth looking it up on Iplayer, I'm assuming it will be available.
