I got the impression that there was something a bit odd about what caused the engine damage: He didn't say what the casue of the accident was, just that it was the subject of an investigation and that was it...

Did Pleming say anything that confirmed or denied our conclusion that they're down to the last 4 of their original 8 airworthy engines ?

He said something about engines but I can't remember what. It was also mentioned when I went for a look around it at Finnigley earlier this year. Pretty sure they said at the time they had 'a couple' of reserve engines, and there were no more after that. Did I hear correctly that the airframe had about 75 hours left on it - at least without a very expensive upgrade? Presumably that's only about another years worth of flying for it.

I find this really sad... the public have shelled out an awful lot of money for this, and one would have expected it to remain airworthy for longer than it has.

It's still airworthy.
And it always had a finite life as a flying exhibit. It's done well to get this far and tehre will be a few more years of flying yet - subject to silica gel bag incidents etc.

Maybe I misunderstood something - it does seem a bit of a short time left.

I noticed this evening that it is parked up parallel to the runway for the night. More engine testing tomorrow?

Just noticed this which I think has not been posted yet from 48 hours ago :
"We would confirm that we are not expecting to be at RAF Waddington this coming weekend, for which, once again, we are extremely sorry."

Posting said 'its confirmed - as far as possible I guess' that she will be a RIAT.
I asked the question again because I don't know if the new engines have been run yet or what the state of play is & as there are people out there 'in the know' I thought I would ask the question albeit a few days later.
Not my fault if the poster got out of bed the wrong side - didn't think his reply needed to be so nasty or sarcastic tbh.

TBH I was only relaying what was said at the time - obviously circumstances can change quickly, so in the absence of anyone involved posting info here, the best thing to do is look at the website. Not sure whether there was some confusion about events: I don't recall any mention of Waddington apart from it was cancelled some time ago, and obviously RIAT is at Fairford.

Website says that they are aiming to be at RIAT on 7 July - only asked the question on here because I don't expect the VTTS webste to be updated every couple of hours so I wondered if anyone close to the team had any further info.
I will keep checking the website as I do on a regular basis anyway.
