Forgive me if I am wrong here but one of the reasons they say she has a limited flying life is the lack of her Olympus Engines. Now at the rate the Royal Navy is decommisioning our warships there is 4 Olympus engines being lovingly stored in the belly of HMS Illustrious. There is also 2 in every Frigate / destroyer laid up in Pompey Dockyard.
If the entire engines are no good / to hard to recover there must be servicable parts ready to be salvaged.

Marine engines are very different to aircraft engines in terms of materials used etc., there is no interchangability and you can't put a marine engine into an aircraft. If the entire engines are no good / to hard to recover there must be servicable parts ready to be salvaged.

'Many will be aware that the only other airworthy Avro Lancaster in the world, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's aircraft is coming over to the UK very soon to join the RAF's BBMF Lancaster at RAF Coningsby.
Aware of the importance that a unique three Avro aircraft formation would represent, we are in discussions with both the BBMF and the CWHM about the possibilities. More when we have it.'
Would be unbelievable to see the 3 of them fly together

I was told at RIAT that this was going to happen - I have already posted this in the Lancaster to the UK thread.'Many will be aware that the only other airworthy Avro Lancaster in the world, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's aircraft is coming over to the UK very soon to join the RAF's BBMF Lancaster at RAF Coningsby.

It looks like a Jetstream had its port undercarriage fold on landing so the aircraft ended up sitting just off the runway with one wing on the ground.

Is anyone heading up for tomorrows display of XH558 with the two Lancasters at Waddington?
I would do at the drop of a hat, but I'm not sure I can get out of work
Sadly not... I am however flying in to the UK on Saturday ready to go to Wings and Wheels on Sunday to see her fly.... finally!I would do at the drop of a hat, but I'm not sure I can get out of work
I e-mailed the XH558 contact address to enquire what size of donation would be required for a slight detour en route to Newcastle airshow over East Yorkshire a week before the event and still haven't had a reply. We were willing to throw some cash in for a flypast but no reply.
Strange.
Anyone know the take off time from Robin Hood today? I'm off this aft.

I saw on a feed somewhere that the fly past is continuing on to Marham is this correct and are there any times
Apparently various Lancasters, Vulcans etc are displaying at Clacton tomorrow (thursday) and are overflying Marham and then on to Wattisham. They are due at Wattisham at around 14.15, and the airfield is expecting various display aircraft for the next hour.
Map of the route.
