I would think that particular Shackleton is down to around 90,000 rivets - by the look of it.

Anyone know where it lives - or if it still exists.

Are the two Shackleton's at Paphos Airport on Cyprus still complete?

I think they are. I'm sure they had to move them to another location at the airport a couple of years back.

Do Air Atlantic still own the one in the States? They were trying to keep her flying until the Campaign Against Aviation allowed her to fly in this country.

I vaguely remember reading about them a while ago, I think the other plane may be something French, but not sure.
There's a third Shackleton in far worse condition at the abandoned Nicossia airport too, along with a couple of Tridents

As an aside and not wanting to hijack the thread but does anyone know if drawings exist of the mk4 that was designed by Avro for, I believe, the Canadians?

I've tried googling with no success but am interested to see what it may have looked like even though it didn't get past the initial design spec.

Can't answer that question but Aeroplane Monthly this month had an In Detail look at the Shackleton.

The old Shackleton factory at Woodford is due for closure soon so a rummage through sundry skips might reveal all sorts of goodies. It's amazing how callous companies are when clearing out. Often vital historical artefacts and documentation is discarded without a second thought.

It was the Aeroplane Monthly article that first alerted me to the planned mk4, I hadn't heard of it before I read that.

You're right - I heard that the original drawings for the Short Stirling bomber were being thrown away by Marshalls of Cambridge...
