"It costs around €300,000 to fill the fuel tank."

I worked on the build of vava 2 until it left plymouth earlier this year, last we heard it had a few big problems with the beach club doors amongst other things, has some pretty impressive features, and some pointlessly expensive stuff onboard!

i'm working on the olympics at the mo, and pick the lorry up every other day from silvertown, so, close by.
would quite like to go down and have a look at the boats 1 night next week after work.

has anyone been? if so, can you park near by, and is it worth it. i'd like to get a proper look, or is there security ropes everywhere?
are they all still there - is it worth going up for a look?

Worth checking on there. If you go to London you can see their AIS position - Octopus, Ilona, Seanna still there.

Would be here all night listing the things on board or the specs but il give a few bits of info, it has horrendously expensive inch thick teak decking throughout the outside decks, thousands and thousands of pounds of it replaced throughout build due to damage, the adjustable depth swimming pool completely raises to form a 70s disco type dancefloor with flashing lights etc, has a sought of 'mini me' owners tender which cost well over a million which is supposed to look like a mini vava 2, the cockpit lifts and lowers to fit into the tender bay, obviously has the obligatory toys, such as jetskis, fast ribs, watersports etc. Lots of very valuable art on board, and alot of custom furniture which i think was designed by stevie wonder but hey ho. The BBQ on the main deck is made of polished stainless and resembles some sort of meteorite without a single square edge on it, trying to mount electrical boxes neatly inside was a nightmare. 2 heli pads, and a very fancy and stupidly expensive circular glass/stainless/wood lift running from main to heli decks. Dont want to give to much away so will leave it at that!

Would have been interesting to see Octopus and the German liner that are in there coming in through the dock. Looks like it would have been a tight fit. Had a wander around today, some lovely boats although were being tended by the pooper tanker

Legend, we are one year apart in age, grew up in the same area, same sailing club and parents are friends etc...it always makes me wish I didnt rush out of Oppies and get in to windsurfing, then I also remeber his raw talent and that even if we took the same route through sailing, I severely doubt I would have compteted anywhere near his level in anything.

On a different note, VaVa II is running ok with little presing her beyond what one would expect. It has to be remebered that even Lurssen (current kings of building massive yachts) have to chase vessels around the world for a while before fully signed off. Quite a few of the fleet built by our Dutch friends (all yards) make it to Falmouth and need tweaking before going further south. Putting paint issues aside as that can go tits up on any project, the technical depth onboard is pushing boundaries thus creating new issues.

I can confirm that even the must highly regarded of Dutch yards have their warranty issues and some you would not expect either,

Wonderful to see them here. Shame the UK missed the superyacht boat (other than Pendennis, of course) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XOOkKcxYYw&fea...

You can park under Waitrose in Canary Wharf, spend a tenner in there and you can ask for a token so the parking is free. You should be able to park for free somewhere off of Marsh Wall after 5.30pm too. As for the boats you can get right up alongside them.
thanks, marsh wall it is then 1 night next week.
be interesting to see them up close.
Before you just rock up and park here you might want to check the local parking restrictions. The local council were muttering about the parking restrictions being in force from 8:30am until late evening (possibly 24 hours) until after the games had finished.

Edit :

Just found this link - http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgnl/transport_and_...
I live very close to where these are and i'm in zone D1.

I think it is mandatory on vessels over a certain tonnage...
