This is a cool video of Graeme Harts new Expedition Yacht. Ready for fit out. The NZ newspapers state the 107M yacht is worth 78M and that would be NZD so around GBP40M. Doesn't seem a lot for such a large yacht. However it puts into perspective all the rubbish spouted about values.

The finished yacht will look like this-note the 21M tender on the Bow.
That is my kind of thing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9wqIMr7KUU

I've been doing some RYA courses at Port Edgar and we've been around Rosyth where I've seen a ship called Fugro Symphony, really impressive thing up close, with an unlimited budget I'd base my superyacht on something like that.

Jade was moored in Puerto portals in Majorca when I was there a month ago. Nice looking yacht. Few others moored in the bay during the week I was there including Pelorus, Arctic P and Ilona. Fishtigua said:

I wonder what the fit and finish will be like, as I'm pretty sure this is Kleven's first "yacht". Hardly surprising it looks like an Offshore vessel
I did 2 large yachts in commercial yards under the control of Kusch Yachts. One was even in an East German warship yard. As long as you have a good team supervising the quality and good sub-contractors, not a problem.East German warship.

He did the Artic and Simson conversions in Malta too. I met Claus in Blohm & Voss when we had Simson S in dry dock. He did cut a few corners to save some pennies though. It's been ten years since he passed away! Where do the years go?
I had some blazing rows with the old scrote but I still regarded him not only as a fine yacht builder but also a friend. Some of the things he did got my goat, as you say, but others were pure genius.Fishtigua said:

Or as I have been edumacated this week .... Voith Schneiders are also fairly barking mad.
Obviously no fking use on a Superyacht, but I would guess as a drop down bow pod.....
We have big azimuths on our WTIVs, others have run those.
mine sweepers / hunters use these ... alot quieter than normal props as minimal cavitation so don't attract nasty things that go bang !!! Obviously no fking use on a Superyacht, but I would guess as a drop down bow pod.....

I'm a bit of a regular holiday maker in Mallorca (Pto Alcudia), and it seems there's quite a few large yachts that pull into the Island for one reason or another, is it really that popular?
Bags.
I noticed it was quite a lot busier for large yachts this summer, I'm told it was after the Spanish changed their minds on some charter tax they had previously put in place. There were 3-4 seriously big yachts lurking outside Portals for the entire time we were there, not always the same yachts at that either.Bags.

A few shots of Kismet moored on The Thames at the weekend probably as the owner was watching his NFL team at Wembley (and when I say 'his' team, he owns the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC)
The jag on the front with the football is a bit much... but I just wiki'd the owner. Never knew making car bumpers would be the lucrative road to immense riches! Fair play though, at least he's not one of these people who pushes invisible money round a computer screen to have multiples of it simply come out the other end. He's a degree qualified engineer and his company makes stuff for Toyota in the US.Otispunkmeyer said:

Must be something about Toyota as an American called Jim Moran who I believe used to be the sole importer of Toyota in the USA owned dozens of superyachts. Several in succession were Feadships called Gallant Lady. Fishtigua said:
There also used to be a CRN back in the '80s called Empress Subaru that a couple of mates worked on in Florida and NY. It was pretty crappy though, the helicopter's engine was normally in bits in the engine room. It also carried a Scoobie SVX on deck.
" the helicopter's engine was normally in bits in the engine room."Was that the cause of the fire that wrecked it, leaving bits around and poor maintenance in general? (As the Silver Swan, after it had been renamed a few times) - http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/general/luxury-y...
