I dread to think how long and how much something like that takes to fill with fuel.
well its got over a million litre tank. so about £600 grand at gib prices i think. burwoodman said:
The large tankers hold 20,000 litres and have 1,100Lper min flow so it's possible to pump 60k litres an hour. A yacht like Eclipse would buy fuel direct and duty free. Mind boggling prospect
Not necessarily - we pay full duty on ours as our schedule is very changeable. Most large yachts are the same.K50 DEL said:
So Eclipse holds 1,000,000 ltr of fuel and costs about 600k GBP to fill up, the question is how far will that take her / how long will it last?
i would guess from O&G stuff, between 8 and 15 tons / day depending on size and speed.... maybe more for big stuff like Ambramovich's toys ... In practical terms i would image that sort of fuel lasting at least 4 months and maybe a lot more. These yachts are not on the move constantly. A long steam to Bahama's at circa 4300 Nm would be 2/3rd of a tank depending on weather/speed. Id imagine the yacht would spend several months there. It isn't as though it has a 2 week charter and cruises back to its home port. I have no experience on super yachts other than I have clients who have small ones at 40 metres. I would imagine a 3 month stint in the Bahama's would entail no more than 1000 miles cruising up and down the island group.
