52 crew. What a waste of time. No privacy, no matter how discrete. 52 crew is a boat load.
she will take 24 guests apparently which means passenger certificates etc.
4 or 5 deck officers, 4 or 5 engineer officers, motormen and fitters, 15 to 20 deck hands, 15 to 20 stewardesses/housekeepers, pilots, chefs, laundry - it all adds up!
The most crew I ever sailed with at one time was 60 and that was on a boat smaller than Serene.

100% correct however, no privacy
i don't doubt the need for 50 crew. I love sailing/fishing and have done a lot of it. I like peace and quiet. Each to their own i guess but i can't help feel it's nothing more than an expression of wealth first and everything else second.
With out wishing to sound a tt the beauty of us all not being the same means we don't all want the same, he may like entertaining, may use it for business, have an extended family, any number of reason, l run a yacht with 11 crew and am told to only expect a few guests.... time will tell.

Just reading the comments on the number of crew and privacy of these things, they are the stately homes of our age. Anyway since those that are on this forum who have worked in the industry have not posted videos, pictures or stories then I guess the owners still have the privacy that they wanted…

Im working in Spain this week and came across Azzam in Tarragona, its the first time I had seen her in the flesh she is truly enormous. Pelorus was on the other side of the port and she just looked so normal, but I can remember the first time I saw her in Antibes about 10 years ago and being even more blown away by the size than I was today with Azzam, probably because the whole industry was very new to me.

it is huge but without even knowing ...crass arab cruise ship. i love boats but unless you are close to the sea it's pointless
I know what you mean. I was going to buy one about 100m long with helipads and all sorts, but living in Rossendale which is nowhere near the sea I didn't bother in the end.

What's the quality like from Fincanteri? Cant imagine its up with Lurssen but also doubt its any where near the price?

Mike
Lives up to the Italian stereotype - looks nice but dubious fit and quality.

I don't agree, they are specifically designed to have service without being interrupted all the time. Really all they'll see is the Chief Stew and maybe one other Stew, when they are doing a meal. Outside that, it's service on call.

ETA: What's the sign about anyway?

This. I have never seen one of the contracts but would expect there to be some very bitey confidentiality and ND clauses in there that will have been drafted with the intent that they would be very enforceable and used if required.

Obviously not to mention that the first time a word was traced back to you would be the last time you ever worked in the industry.

There is finally the very small point that not all of the people who own boats like this are known for their ability to play by the accepted norms and rules of society.

Exactly!

I especially loved when people would presume it was some famous actor or sports person - most could barely afford the annual running costs of the big ones. The sign seems odd to me, why can the public get that close in the first place and why voluntarily give out information.

take a look at October 23, 2008 - we were bored and decided to tell a local journalist that Elton was onboard.
It was in the local newspaper too.

A pal has had to sign similar, didn't hear from him for ages when he was on one particular boat.

When you hear stories about some of these 'personalities' & the lives they lead you feel quite sorry for them, yacht or no yacht.

but what you call a personality or celebrity isn't really. Next to no know celebs have the cash to run the big yachts.

Someone wasn't all that creative with the exterior design on that, let's hope the inside is more attractive.
