Could someone please explain why owners put their new build straight to market - is it purely an investment process with no intention of ever owning the boat?

(or major cost overuns...)

All owners are different. Some just enjoy the build process and design stage and want to go bigger. Some over extent themselves and need to sell fast. Others put them on the market to see if anyone will pay over the odds for a ready boat, when there's a hell of a waiting list.

2 of mine sadly got terminal cancer.

Well that's sad frown

I've seen a couple recently - the one that sticks in my mind is Okto. Boat International quotes the owner as deliberately wanting to downsize, but later on in the issue you can see it's already for sale! Seems to me like they used the magazine as a bit of free advertising and there was never an attempt to own it.

Twizzle motored past us last week. Currently on the market for a smidge under $50mil.

It's big but not as big as Eos. For reference of size, that is a 45ft swan yacht off her stern.

Finally a sail powered super yacht that looks like a sailing boat should, elegant, minimal free board, slim masts not huge pylons

Saw these two beauties in Venice yesterday. I don't know much about them but Google told me that Carinthia VII belongs to an Austrian billionairess but can't really find much out about Altair. Any other info?

I really like the front half, but the back is awful!

Looks like it was designed by 2 different people. I'll not be putting in an offer should it come up for sale.

I watched that, quite an interesting programme, not as terrible as it could have been. Trying to sell "Solandge" and "Turquoise" at the Monaco Yacht Show, mainly, though a few other bits and pieces covered.

Oh and Raymond's son ? How is it someone who inherited his 80m is labelled as an entrepreneur?
I was muttering the exact same thing whilst watching it.

Although, to be fair, with its current useage/saturation in the media, the term entrepreneur in general is really starting to piss me off.

I was mucking about with work regarding my hire car this week and taking random photos of it up and down the coast, this one however happens to capture Savannah, a new 83m Feadship - When I saw her on the IYCA earlier made me stop and stare. She is a very impressive yacht and although bigger ones were parked next door she really stood out.
