thanks for the linky smile I'm not sure what they're trying to get at though, it's usually only open for an hour a day anyway :-S

I wasn't sure if it was out of the ordinary but BBC Wales seem to do this type of reporting. They probably didn't know it happens already.

If you mean the 'tit' like fairing, it's the DIRCM. Directional infra red countermeasures.
It directs a beam if infra red energy at attacking missiles to fool them.

If you fill the tail with blu-tak when you build it then that's where to put the string when you pin it to the ceiling wink

Dave, as always, superb pics!

Wasted away a very boring flight today looking at my saved pics. Really have to pay a visit someday..

Happy to head out with you.... I'm off work back here in the UK for the next 2 weeks and am pretty flexible on days etc.... when suits you?

I can normally do Mondays and Wednesdays. I'm usually quite lucky on Wednesdays too lol! But if the current rumours are true then it really won't be worthwhile - there's talk surrounding the Red Arrows crash today that all Hawk T1s may be grounded and if true, that will put pay to most of the low level traffic with RAF Valley being only a short distance away which makes up most of the traffic. Marham aren't flying much either over August, so not many Tornados.

Well I can do either day for the next 2 weeks, if you can find out whether the flying is continuing then we'll make a decision from there.
I'll PM you my mobile number and just drop me a text if we're on.
