Those A10's were flying about around Lakenheath for a lot of last week. A real blast from the past, we used to see them quite regularly.

Still a mean looking animal!

Great pic's by the way smile

Does anybody have a nearby postcode to get me to the mach loop? I might combine it with a nice drive out there.

I usually use LL36 9AJ which is for a local hotel in Minffordd simply aim for the A486 and there's a car park/layby at the foot of the hills

Probably from about midday onwards for flying stuff I'd go for...

Gotta let the Morning Prayers, what did you do for new year etc etc conflabs and first day back in work immense coffee drinking action to get out of the way first before any actual work is done. tongue out

Got this in mid october, I was walking so I didnt have a big boys lens with me. Just about to pop out the top end of pennant valley, near Dylife. The ones before were lower, but my camera was in the rucksack at the time! Doh.

Not really Paul, I just like an old squadron chant now and again! So long as i don't feel the need to run round with my bum on fire I think I made the transition to civvy street quite well! I find very few understand that!

Oh,and we want her back!

Thinking of taking a trip up next week. Is it worth an 8 hour round trip currently?

It's very much hit and miss. Check to see if any FJ squadrons are overseas first as that can quieten the loop down. Or if you ask Dave nicely he has a source that let's him no if any helicopters are using the mountain flying training area sites wink

We are heading to Snowdonia next week (Wednesday or Thursday) and our route takes us through part of the loop. Couple of questions chaps.
1 Is it really as hit or miss as mentioned on here?
2 1st time I have been so was thinking of going to corris corner. Would this be a good 1st timer place? Only have a 300mm lens to play with
Thanks

I haven't been, though I do keep meaning to as it's not all that far from me in Cheshire.

There this page ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/operati... ) that seems to have PDFs for the next few weeks showing the training timetables, but I doubt that means stuff will be flying in those times, only that it can.

For a first timer I'd go up the Bwlch, cant really get lost, loads of warning, fantastic views and ideally suited to a 300mm.

It really is hit or miss. Sunnier days can be better but not always. Tuesdays and Thursday are better if you want to see a Tornado it seems until the end of the year.
