Thanks.

May be wrong, but at least the topic is now being followed now it's volume two wink
Fantastic image, thanks Mr W. clap

I never realised just how large the LERX were on it, you can see how they stabilise the upper fuselage/inner wing airflow counter to the control canards which affect/disrupt the outer forward swept wing flow..hehe

Big bombs. Probably the one that would be used for carrying nukes.

I'd hazard a guess at something like a bunker buster or one of those Fuel-Air thingies.

Looks like a B36 with B52 style wing and engines, so a YB60?

Yup,It's not a brilliant photo but you can just make out the sign writing on the nose.

I've also got a photo of one of the two prototypes with its gun turrets on show but it's in a book and I've yet to find a copy of the photo on the web.

But I managed to find a picture of an experimental undercarrige that was tested on the B-36.

Like he said; the underwing ones are heavy weapon pylons, for airlaunched cruise missiles, smartpigs, and any other expensive PGM the DoD have hosed money at the contractors for. Fuel-air and bunkerbusters tend to be the preserve of smaller more tactical mudmovers.
