Must sound absolutely mental - that's essentially 4 x F16 engines!
Yes, it is impressively loud. I watched a Concorde depart from Fairford at the RIAT some years back, followed immediately by a B1B. The B1B was noticeable louder, and made it difficult to breath as it went past with all four engines in reheat.Dr Jekyll said:
Wasn't there also a military derivative of the 707 called the KC-137?
Almost correct - true militarised 707s were given the C-137 designation (to differentiate them from the C-135 variants).Initially, these were used for VIP missions - such as Air Force 1 - which was a VC-137.
Since then, of course, quite a few true 707 airframes have been used for all sorts of military roles, both with the USAF and other armed forces all around the world.

Reduce To Produce, basically cannibalise the jet for spare parts. Shame to see yet another charismatic squadron being disbanded.
