I presume this was a stunt for a Hollywood movie. In the 1920s, film makers seemed to enjoy staging aeroplane crashes into barns, roofs etc.
yes

Wiki said:
The Skywayman is a lost 1920 American silent film directed by James P. Hogan and produced and distributed by Fox Film Corporation. This serial starred aviator Ormer Locklear and is known today as the production in which Locklear was killed while performing a night time stunt. This film was probably conceived as a serial but, due to Locklear's death, Fox telescoped the remaining footage into a feature film.[1][2]

558 looks close to stalling. Is the Eagle on final approach to land on 558s wing?

Probably not too far from stall speed, we were max throttle in the Falco for the whole duration as was Ben in the Eagle. Around 160 knots I think from memory.
