I thought I'd just about learnt to live with the fact that I'll never get to fly in a Lightning, but that picture puts me back to square one. Perhaps some kind of therapy is available.

I find this particularly interesting, its a captured JU88 that crashed just outside Heston Airfield during the war.
I had no idea that this kind of aircraft ever operated from Heston, I always assumed that the captured eval aircraft flew out of Farnborough

I read somewhere that it was flying in from Germany in late 1945 and went via Heston to clear customs. Though I can't remember where I read this.

Looked good but the concept was flawed.

It's the type of aeroplane Joe 90 would have nicked.

Or get along to Bruntingthorpe for a cold war jets/ scramble day. Might not get to sit in them though.

You can sit in a Lightning cockpit at Tangmere, more interesting though is it's set up as simulator. I know this because I have 'flown' it! smile

Oh and better still? Its free! (After paying an entrance fee to the museum).

The Varsity isn't in the top left apron, its over on the right

Top left

Britannia, Comet, Belfast, VC10, C130, Hastings, Beverley

Top right

Wellington, Mosquito, Lancaster, Canberra, Dominie, Gnat, Jet Provost, Piston Provost, Varsity

Foreground left

Gazelle, Devon, Pembroke, Devon, Auster, Lysander, Tiger Moth, Magister, Lightning T4, Javelin, Hunter, Whirlwind (over head) Vampire, Meteor, Tempest, Beaufighter, Defiant, Spitfire

I am not sure if there's supposed to be a Chipmunk behind the Pembroke, is that a dH tail back there on the corner?

edit for mistyped Tiger Moth
Good effort but no banana. I believe you missed the Hurricane next to the Spitfire.
