Well. We could have had an amazingly cool photo of an E-3 Sentry turning to land at Waddington. Sadly, my wife had other ideas.

I said "pass the camera, quick!"

my wife said:
You're not spoiling this 'get away from it all' holiday by taking silly photos every five minutes. Besides, I don't remember where I put it.

Sorry my dear, but...

a) a photo of an aeroplane you rarely see, at low level, turning to land, is NOT a 'silly photo'!
b) funny how you quickly found the camera when you decided we needed pictures of the inside of our Yurt

Grrrr!

Good piloting skills in recovering, or bad piloting skills in getting into that situation?

That corsswind looks horrifically difficult to fly in. That they even got near the runway makes them a good pilot in my mind!

This popped up on 'On this day' on Wikipedia - I wouldn't normally post a crash photo but everyone survived and it's quite interesting -

"The accident was unusual in that the aircraft involved, two Avro Ansons of No. 2 Service Flying Training School RAAF, remained locked together after colliding, and then landed safely."
