The first of the V bombers was an S.
It was backup plan A, a simple straight winged bomber ordered by the air ministry in case any of the 3 advanced (Vickers, Avro and Handley Page) designs didn't work. And when the air ministry found they had 4 bombers for a single bomber requirement they dropped the older Sperrin but still kept the other 3.

Awesome pic - looks like something out of a 60s sciFi flickIt does indeed look cool.
As regards similarity to 60s sci-fi - where do you think the artists and model makers for sci-fi of the 50s and 60s got their inspiration?

Or Spectrum insignia on a Vulcan
Apparently the trailer was overweight and the towing vehicle uninsured.
The latest adventure of Maurice Kirk, AKA the flying vet. Who once contravened controlled airspace somewhere on the South Coast, allegedly drunk, and identified himself to air traffic control as 'Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise'.
Opinions vary as to whether he is an old style maverick adventurer of the kind that made Britain great, or an irresponsible lunatic. I tend towards the latter view.

Some sort of Cub or cub-u-like?
Looks like a Cub of some description, but given they only weigh ~350kg empty what on earth else did he have on the trailer to make it overweight, that being said looking at the state of the trailer it might be so old that it has a very low weight limit.PanzerCommander said:

According to Pprune it is a Cub. There is also a suggestion that it's illegal to tow a trailer with a max weight limit greater than the towing limit of the vehicle towing it, irrespective of what is actually on the trailer at the time. Someone on here must know.

If a trailer is rated for 3500Kg then the vehicle towing it must be rated to tow 3500 as a minimum even if the trailer is only carrying a packet of sandwiches.
Steve
AIUI that changed a while back to allow you to use the actual weight of the load rather than the plated weight?Steve
