XS904 still working - http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/lightning/...
And there's a good chance that tanker could even be XH558.

That won't be a tanker Vulcan. That picture would date from 1973/74 period, years before any Vulcans were converted to tankers. And there's a good chance that tanker could even be XH558.

Tanker white paint scheme underneath, painted to the centre and rear sections over the normal grey undersides. This is XH558
You are correct about the Vulcan.
I thought the Lightning in the picture was in the mid 70s Green with Silver undersides scheme - as in this picture.
It's actually in the 80s grey and green camouflage colours I can see now.
Apologies.
In fact, because its XS904 which is an F6, I don't think it ever would have been painted in the green/silver scheme anyway.

Only the F2As of RAFG (19 and 92 Sqns) wore that scheme. They were also generally not fitted with the AAR probe (normally for UK transits).I thought the Lightning in the picture was in the mid 70s Green with Silver undersides scheme - as in this picture.
The Lightning in that photo is a F6 of either 5 or 11 Sqn.
Edit: XS504 spent almost it's entire career with 11 Sqn.
