Whoops !

What aircraft is that? Contrarotating prop looks to be a different period to the car? But I guess its late 1940's or early 1950's
westland wyvern?

A big, ungainly best that was not particularly popular with those who had to fly it.

They were meant to make a splendid noise though

Sadly, I know of no running Python turboprops. the only Wyvern that survives is the prototype which is preserved at Yeovilton - but it is fitted with a Rolls Royce Eagle piston engine.

Can anybody tell me if the Mach Loop will be in operation on Thursday Nov 13th?
I'm in that part of Wales that evening anyway so would head down earlier if I'm likely to see something?

There's a group on Facebook called LFA7 Mach Loop Enthusiats, if your on Facebook, you might be better off asking on there.

Either that or they're F86's. I'd go ahead and guess Migs are probably cheaper to procure though.

That's the dummy airfield on the Spadeadam EW (Electronic Warfare) range. They are Dassault Mystere IVAs. The other side of the runway were a pair of T33s.

In recent years they have acquired a few (ex East German Air Force) Sukhoi SU22s and MiG 21s as visual targets.

Spadeadam on a rainy night, 13th July 1991, pulling cam nets over a Rapier admin area whilst listening to INXS play live at Wembley (which is where I should have been with my Girlfriend) will go down as one of my most miserable days in the RAF.

The Kee Bird documentary was doing the rounds.. the one where they attempt to salvage a B29 by flying it out of an ice shelf in Greenland. Utterly fascinating.
