I took this photo a couple of years back at the Farnborough Airshow. I was quite pleased considering I'm an absolute novice!

Blohm + Voss, thinking outside the box there. You have to wonder at how they came up with that layout.

Observation, so unrestricted views down, forward and rear in the smallest, lightest package with a single engine. If you put your observation into a normal single engined aircraft the engine/tail will always get in the way and if you build it so that you include dedicated viewing it starts to get bigger and heavier. Or more people on board increasing weight.

When you look at the gondola on the BV141 it is almost exactly the same as that of the Focke Wulf FW189 twin boom recce a/c. The BV141 never made it into production owing to problems with the BMW132 engine. By the time the evaluation a/c had been fitted with the more powerfu BMW801 the design had lost out to the FW189.
