That was one of the many jobs given to Eric "Wnkle" Brown, being the top notch aviator that he is he managed to land it.

Yes - fitted IIRC to give more clearance during deck landings than a 3 bladed one

The Mossie was deemed unsuitable for carrier ops due to the undesirable single engine out performance and characteristics.

That gives me an idea... going to try a single engine carrier approach in the Mossie in Il2.. Should be interesting.

Cheers

De Havilland refined the Mossie into the Hornet - and the fully navalised Sea Hornet. So, they got there in the end.

Yep - a not so great idea.

They also had radio controlled bombed up "missile" variants too.

Film of it was shown on the recent BBC documentary.

Excelent programme that; worth a watch and if its not on iPlayer any more it is or was on youtube.

Heres a good one, B-17 Turbo prop test bed (Cargomaster engine in the nose I think):

There is a picture of it with the piston engines photoshopped out (I built one for FS2002 back in the day with one engine hehe) but its a fake it always had five engines.

Nice one PC that B17 sure does look "odd"

Watched the Mossie documentary tonight ..the one with the 42Commando chap... for some reason some of it felt familiar..

However was great to see a programme dedicated to the Mosquito and pleased that someone is actually making documentaries like this...

Yep, the cockpit has been moved back for starters, having a look around this is the Wikipedia entry for the P&W T34. It was rebuilt as the Liberty Belle.

I never realised Gannets were gay!

In the top picture it seems to be trying an impersonation of Larry Grayson.
